Video Transcript: Ernie Describes Chemotherapy Treatment For Mesothelioma

In starting with this, it was a little spooky to start chemo. I knew nothing about chemo. I knew nothing about side effects you would get from this. The only thing that I probably heard of this before starting this is what I call tales that people talk about on the street corner.... wherever people talk about it. You walk into an unknown factor not knowing what it is going to do to you. So this is the thought that you would have. That after starting the first chemo treatment I thought, this isn’t like what people told me it was. Well, maybe some people got sick and ill with it. I worked very well with my chemo treatments. I had no effects from it, not the first round. I went through chemo for nine months, and I had a stopping point because I was winding up with some nerve damage from the chemo treatments. So we stopped the chemo treatments, and I lost the thing with my nerves. My nerves came back and no more problems there... some nausea, and I had and an upset stomach. Not heavy. I had medication for the nausea, and I worked good with that. I lost my appetite for food. I didn’t have a desire to eat, because the thought of food would make my stomach upset. So that is what bothered me with the chemo treatments. That was the second round. The first round I had no problems with food or anything. I done very well with that.
