Video Transcript: Mary Jane Reacts to Her Peritoneal Mesothelioma Diagnosis

They took my gallbladder out. The surgeon had told me beforehand while he had a camera in there: he was going to look around, because I had already lost 20 pounds. So, he found what he thought was mesothelioma. So, I had no idea... never heard of it..... just knew it was cancer. I was in shock for awhile. The first week we had a lot of company over.... a lot of friends and family over. So, I decided to take Monday off of work because I just wanted to be by myself and kind of absorb all of this. I got on the Internet and looked it up, and it was nothing but bad news... said I had about eight months to live after diagnosis. So, I called my husband-hysterical-because it was going to be a month before I could get in to my oncologist. So I said, "I don’t care what you do, but you have to get me in because I only have eight months."
