Video Transcript: Spouse of Mesothelioma Victim Offers Encouragement
Once Andrew became diagnosed with mesothelioma, yes I did cry a lot. But I also gained strength. I gained strength in knowing that whatever God’s will was, it was going to be done. And I think even today, that’s what I hold on to. I tried to continue to keep myself in the areas of knowing that whatever God’s will is, it is going to be done, regardless to whether we want it done or not. Andrew would not have wanted me to worry about him. He would not have wanted me to be concerned about where he was and what he was doing. Andrew was the type of man that would say to anyone, don’t worry about me. Because I am on the other side, sitting down with the father, having tea or coffee or whatever. You just take care of yourself on this side and do the things that you need to do. That is in the likeness of Christ. And that it was I have been doing. And I can tell you, that’s what is keeping me going every single day. It’s not so much that I don’t miss him, because I do truly miss him. I miss him on every note. But what I can truly say is that everyday is also a task for me. To gain strength, to gather faith, to knowing that it’s okay. It’s okay. And don’t give up, because it is okay. When you are thinking you are weak, at that time you are really strong. Because I really thought that I was truly weak. But, Andrew, at that time of him going through feeling bad and hurting, I was his strength. And you can also be that strength for your mate or someone that is going through mesothelioma now. I’m not going to tell you that it didn’t get hard for me. Some days I had to go into another room and cry or leave home, and those types of things. I am not going to tell you that didn’t happen, because it did happen. But I can encourage you, that if I did it, if I did it, you can do it. But I would encourage you or anyone for that matter, to know that with God’s help, and his leading and guidance, you can do it. That is my story.
