Video Transcript: Mesothelioma Treatment Plan - Woman Planned Surgery and Chemotherapy
What they do is that they go in, and they give you the surgery, the chemo, and they call it a de-bulking. The procedure is to totally go in and eradicate all that is in there. They might remove an intestine; they might remove a kidney.... whatever it takes in order to get the cancer out. And then after that, they give you a flush of chemo, and then they send you home. It is like a 7-10 day ordeal. When they decided that I could come for the surgery, I had to make a scheduled appointment to come up and have their blood work and all of their stress tests and everything done for them. It took 2 days to do it.... so that they could have all of this information available. What diseases did I have, what had I had as a child? Did I have measles, did I have mumps, chicken pocks, and I had to walk and squeak like a duck. It was a long, enduring 2 days to get all of this done.
