Video Transcript: Ernie Describes Living With Mesothelioma

It’s basically stable to a certain point....which I am getting prepared to have another PET scan run to see if there are any more indications of any other growth. But it has been stable for a great deal of time. The radiation treatments have reduced the tumor by 42%.We only concentrated the radiation treatment on one tumor. The chemo treatments I had helped to contain the growth.

So, at this point in time, right now, I do not know whether I have any advanced growth until I go back and have my PET scan. Basically, the only way it affects me today is I get tired easily. As far as my outlook on life, I don’t think it has changed. I live my life the same. With my family, we do everything the same. We haven’t changed our lifestyles any.  I have up and down days where I get extremely tired. Life changes haven’t been drastic. We seem to get up in the morning. We do everything like we always have. We don’t let this get in the way of our life. We don’t sit around and think about it and get moody about it. We just continue on. That is the attitude we have. I get up with a smile every morning and go. Sometimes I get up late in the morning, but I go on smiling anyway. People ask me how I feel. I say, "Well, on a scale of 1 to 10 at the present time, I could almost put myself at an 11, considering my condition. People have told me that my positive attitude of thinking helps. I hope they are right. Because they say, "Whatever you are doing, just keep on doing it." Well, I will just  keep on doing what I’m doing.
