Ascites
Ascites is the abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen that often leads to swelling. The buildup occurs in the space between the membranes lining the abdomen and the abdominal organs, and it is one of the common symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma. The abdomen swelling may contain tumor cells in late-stage liver or mesothelioma cancer. Hear a personal story of one peritoneal mesothelioma patient’s use of chemotherapy to reduce her ascites.
